VW Commercial Roadshow
Jez reveals future of leadership for automotive leaders - 6x over
300 managers from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle dealerships across the United Kingdom came together recently for an exciting and immersive off-site event in Wales.
All training events come with their own set of challenges, not least justifying the conflict of taking time out of the business, but that is especially of concern with off-site events and the associated logistics that come with them.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles gave me a specific brief: this event needed to be energetic, captivating, and to look and feel different in order to help get across the importance for similarly individual behaviours required to help develop a winning mindset.
Following a formal launch from UK Head of Commercial Vehicles, Cian O’Brien, I delivered a short fifteen minute presentation on the six most important things I’ve learnt about leadership from my involvement teaching, coaching and researching it over the last ten years. Aside from the official internal launch of the new VW Amarok, delegates were treated to five additional seminar sessions throughout the day, on a variety of key subjects.
The photo above shows me in my seminar pod, delivering one of six, twenty-minute presentations on the essential techniques and brain science required for the future of effective leadership. Groups rotated around the different pods throughout the day and I’m delighted that my group was the loudest!
With so much information to deliver in just one day, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles knew that the real work would happen following the event when delegates returned to their dealerships.
To help maximise the momentum and value of the messages conveyed on the day, copies of my #1 best-selling book, Flip the Switch, were distributed to each dealership site following the event to help leaders read more on my thinking about how to get bigger results by simple changes to the way we think, and to share with those in their charge. An ideal, tangible learning tool to pass around among colleagues. I wonder how many might make their way to the service department waiting areas?!
Flip the Switch makes an ideal companion guide to several of my seminars and keynote presentations and judging by the excitement it generated on Linkedin, it was very well received by delegates!
